It’s been about 4 months since my cut. And I’ve been happily using a mix of Hair Rules Curly Whip with Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Conditioning Milk and coconut oil. On freshly cleansed wet hair, I apply coconut oil, then the Shea Moisture, then the Hair Rules. I finger coil when wet and depending on how frizzy I want the look the style lasts about 3-4 days.

While in a local beauty supply store I saw Jam Curling Custard Gel on sale for $3.99 CDN. I haven’t used JAM for years. I saw it on another curly girl’s instagram. When I came across it in person I saw on the label that it’s touted as having “no alcohol, no mineral oil, no petrolatum”. So I decided to give it a try.
My conclusion:
Overall I’m happy with the results. Gooey enough but slick enough. Worked well with the Style Milk and coconut oil combo. Dried quickly and left no white residue. Wasn’t greasy to the touch after it dried. No flaking. Good sheen. Preferable price point. Kept curl for about 3 days. I’ll def try it again.
Three Naturals More than just your hair…

Thanks for the review. I love your cut, too. Can you recommend a good salon in the Toronto area that cuts natural hair?
Thanks Andrea! I’ve never personally been to these places but I’ve heard positive things about Curl Ambassadors, and Curl Bar. Check their websites for locations and info.
